How You Are Judged, Types Of CompetitionsYou are judged on overall performance in various areas. Those areas are Slalom skiing, trick, jumping and racing. In Slalom skiing competitors must ski around six buoys that are placed at specific location on the lake and as you round the six buoys the rounds get harder by increasing the speed by 2 mph and making the rope shorter. In trick skiing the skiers must have a routine set and present it to the judges when it is their time to ski he/she must try and do their routine to a T. With jumping the skiers must try and go over a ski ramp and try and jump farther than the other competitors. For the last competition, Racing is where skiers try and go as fast as they can around a course or on a straight away with speeds around 30-70 mph and as fast as 100 mph. The skiers must wear protective gear such as a neck brace if the skier crashes. These are types of competitions in water skiing.
